Q4 2023 Geolocation Gaming Trends on iOS in Australia

As the year 2023 drew to a close, Sensor Tower's data provided insights into the performance of top geolocation games on the iOS platform in Australia for the fourth quarter. Here, we take a look at the trends among the top five applications in this engaging category.

Niantic, Inc.'s Pokémon GO continued to be a strong performer with revenues showing a fluctuating yet resilient pattern, peaking at $136K in early October. Downloads for the game saw a gradual decline through the quarter, but spiked to nearly 6K in the final week of December. Weekly active users (WAUs) started at approximately 280K and ended the quarter with a slight dip to around 224K.

Illumix, Inc.'s Five Nights at Freddy's AR showed modest revenue with the highest at $693 in late November. The game's downloads had a significant jump to over 3K at the end of October, and WAUs peaked at around 18K in early November before stabilizing at 14K by the quarter's end.

The newcomer, Monster Hunter Now from Niantic, Inc., launched in September, showed a strong start with revenues hitting $24K in early October, but then experienced a downward trend, settling at around $8K by Christmas. Downloads declined sharply after the initial launch hype, but WAUs increased towards December, reaching over 14K.

Tamadog - Puppy Pet Dog Games, from Akita Limited Liability Company, displayed a revenue increase in December, reaching $1.4K. The game saw a surge in downloads to over 1K in the first week of December, and WAUs more than quadrupled during the quarter, ending at 884.

Lastly, Jurassic World Alive by Jam City, Inc. had a revenue peak at $5.8K in early October and concluded the quarter with $4.5K. The game's downloads showed some stability, and WAUs saw a slight increase to 1K by the end of December.
